At Tomah Retreat, we harmonize with the rhythm of Mother Nature, ensuring an authentic and ever-changing experience with each visit. While we don't experience extreme heat, our days and evenings bring a refreshing coolness, even in the summertime. Picture yourself sitting by the fire pit outside, enjoying the crisp air, unless there's a fire ban, of course. Explore the distinct charm each season unveils at Tomah Retreat, as the surroundings transform in appearance and fragrance.
Immerse yourself in a tapestry of perfumed flowers and vibrant colors during the spring season. Bright blue skies provide the backdrop to lively animals, and our chickens happily resume laying eggs. Don't miss the chance to indulge in the bounty of cherries available on the mountains in October and November.
As summer unfolds, the mountains come alive with berries, and if Bronwen's supply is depleted, her neighbor offers an entire acre for you to pick your own punnet. Keep an eye out for flourishing rhubarb, and later in the season, the abundance of Bilpin's apples. If you're interested, Bronwen can guide you to small organic farms in the area.
With a fireplace in each of our three bed and breakfast studios, autumn becomes the perfect season to get warm and cozy. Delight in pine mushrooms, large and meaty, which Bronwen will gladly point out as they thrive under pine trees. Autumn also heralds the arrival of walnuts, hazelnuts, and chestnuts. If our season is concluded or yet to begin, our thoughtful neighbors might have something to offer.
In winter, the air is filled with the fragrance of jonquils and daffodils, and you can pluck a grapefruit for breakfast. While snowfall is a rare treat, occurring about once a year, you might just be in luck to witness the magical flurries at Tomah Retreat. Embrace the changing seasons and let the essence of each one envelop you during your stay with us.
